On Thursday morning Creative George and Curious George visited Albury School. The Brothers had their picture taken with our Albury Bears, "Mr Cuddles" and "Principal Bear" and with some of the students. The George Brothers really enjoyed their day at Albury School and we will miss them.

Albury School

Albury School is participating in "My Greatest Feat 2010". The George Brothers both joined in for the day. It was estimated that they walked 2 - 3 thousand steps throughout the day Curious George spent time in Room 1 and sat in Constable Toni Hockings pocket during the session about our Role Models and learning about Right and Wrong.

George Brothers visit Opihi 4

Phew!! What a busy day the George Brothers had when they visited Opihi 4.

Creative George was very good at phonics!

We introduced Creative George to our word monsters.

Creative George was very good at finding the words we needed to use in our class story.

Guess what!! After play, Curious George and Creative George got to watch us do our "Where the Wild Things Are" puppet plays.

The George Brothers laughed and laughed when the Wild Things growled!!

We laughed so much because they were laughing!!

The George Brothers also got to meet some of our favourite story book characters.
You guessed it!!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar and
Hairy MacLary!!
They had the best time together talking and gossiping.
After lunch the George Brothers helped us with our Poetry, presented the certificate to our Worker of the Week and then came with us to Discovery.
We love going to Discovery and had the most fantastic time. We even tried making some new clothes for the George Brothers!
We hope you have a good time at the next school George Brothers. We will follow your adventures on this blog.

W2's first time with the George Brothers

They came to visit and we took photos with them. They played with the foam shapes with us, and then we went on a shape hunt around the school! We found lots of shapes hiding in the playground. We found some shapes in the bark area, in the new school playground, and we found some shapes in the classroom. Then the Curious Brothers helped us to draw our own pictures made from shapes.

Half - way day party with the George Brothers

The George Brothers came to Waitaki 1 on 27 April. It was a special day for our class because it was the 50th day of school. We have been counting the days of school because when we get to 100 days of school, we are going to have a party. While we are counting days of school, we are getting better about understanding place value.
Curious George was so curious that he went out to the cloak bay. We had to stop what we were doing to go and find him. He had hidden in one of the cubbies. We think he ate a packet of chips and left the packet behind. We weren't so happy about that.
To celebrate our 50th day we got to do fun stuff. At maths time we coloured in a 100s chart - half in one colour, and half in a second colour. We also estimated how many popcorn kernels were in a half a cup, then we popped it and ate it! Yum!
We made blue jelly and filled our cups half way. In the jelly was a lolly fish, because we have been studying the ocean. Yum, yum, yum!!! You won't believe it - the lolly fish were half one colour and half another!
During literacy time there was a list on the board of activities that we could choose. One of them was to write 50 words from around the room. Some people tried to write a story that was exactly 50 words long. We could also read 50 pages in a book.
In the afternoon we did some art. We created new tide pool creatures that were half one animal and half another. Zach made a crabtuli which was half crab and half sea tulip. Amy made a sea cranemone - half crab and half sea anemone. Finally, we ate our jelly! We had a class photo with the George Brothers eating our jelly. Just then the bell rang. We said goodbye to the George Brothers.

Curious and Creative George had a very busy day with Rangitata 2 at Pleasant Point Prmary. First thing in the morning was a quick reading recovery lesson followed by joining the whole Rangitata 2 class. The students in Rangitata 2 were so excited to meet their new classmates. They were eager to include them in everything they did and to show them what they had been learning. They popped outside to join the class in a performance of Tutira Mai Nga Iwi. This proved challenging for Curious and Creative George as they didn't know all the actions. They gave it their best shot anyway.

Rangitata 2 has been using ICT integrated into their English learning to produce comics. The class were desperate to share these with the George bros. The George brothers were captivated by what the class had been doing. They said they want Danny to make comics with them in it!
Rangitata enjoyed their day with the George brothers and wish them well on their journey, Ka kite Curious and Creative George!
