Book Box Time!

After play, we go back to the classroom and read from our boxes. Here are the George brothers listening to a very new Room 16 person reading. they are SO impressed with the finger pointing!

George Brothers visit to Room 10

The George Brothers spent time in Maths working with fractions, finding a half and a quarter of groups.

At reading time they helped us read from the Go Zone, learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. Curious George thought it would be awesome to have a rolled up tongue like a butterfly.

Thanks for stopping off on your travels in Room 10.

Fun at the swimming pool with Room 14

Room 14 took the monkeys to the swimmimg pool and showed them how to swim on their backs. The naughty monkeys jumped in the water and got very wet. Our teacher squeezed them out and took them out to dry in the sun. They slept the night in our teachers hot water cupboard by a hot pipe. Now they are dry again.

Thursday 19th March.

The George Brothers got to Room Five bright and early. The day started with Curious George and Creative George helping in a maths lesson. They were a whizz on the calculators. The class were keen to show off their vegetable garden. George and George wanted to know what had made the holes in the leaves. Room 5 showed them the slugs that had been munching the veges. Yuck! The George Brothers helped Room 5 top up the beer traps they are using to capture the slugs and save the vegetables. The George Brothers were then shown Allenton School’s worm farm. Room 5 are responsible for feeding the worms this term. George and George said the worms looked really happy with all that food. The afternoon saw Room 5 and the George Brothers reading in the library and solving puzzles together.

ROOM 2 ALLENTON SCHOOL

The George brothers learnt about statistics and graphing information in Room 2.

They were impressed with the children's traffic survey of 'How many cars stopped at a stop sign'. They were disappointed that not all cars stop!!!
The information has been faxed off to the police so that they can monitor the intersection and that will make it safer for the children who bike to Allenton School.

Curious and Creative told the children that they always STOP at the stop sign and so does Danny their caregiver.

Saint Patricks Day was celebrated by the staff at Allenton with green scones and green cream for morning tea, delicious!! Unfortunately the children in Room 7 missed out!!

The brothers did enjoy a visit to the library and a glance at the on going building site of our new administration block.

The George brothers visited Room 1 and were able to help out with Peer Mediation. Here they are at the help desk with Hannah and Tayla already to help solve any problem that might crop up. Thanks Curious and Creative for helping to make Allenton School and even "Cooler School!"

Curious and Creative George visted Room 4. They were a big help in our class and we enjoyed showing them what we are learning about. Curious was very interested in our work and asked lots of questions. Creative enjoyed looking through our art and sometimes had interesting ideas! They both loved helping us water our sunflowers. Here they are helping us take care of our sunflowers. We hope they enjoyed their time in our class.
From Room 4

George Brothers visit Room 13.

The George Brothers arrived in Room 13 bright and early on Monday morning. We were about to start our News Circles, so Creative and Curious joined in!
First they sat in the circle and had to learn how to be a good listener. They were very good at it. Curious and Creative sat quietly and looked at the person who was having news. When the person was finished speaking they will say "Are there any questions?" and we have to ask a question using the 5 W's and an H. Creative even put his hand up to ask a question!
When everyone had had their news we all sat back on the mat. Creative and Curious got to sit with children that were being good listeners. The leader of each group chose a person to share their news with the whole class and Mrs Edwards wrote it up in our special Newsboard Book. Greative helped find a question mark and Curious had to help circle some compound words. After we had finished writing it up, we all read it out loud together. Curious and Creative were the loudest because they were trying SO hard. We loved having them in our class and hope they come back again soon.

Visit to Room 3 Allenton School

On Tuesday the George Brothers, Curious and Creative, were on holiday in room 3. In the morning they went out to our compost garden with two girls to water our veges. They had a go at watering the garden and said it was really fun. In the afternoon we went on a seed hunt. While we went on our seed hunt Curious and Creative had a rest. When we came back they were amazed at how many seeds we found. We have been learning about plants so we can look after the veges we planted in the compost garden. Its time to go, we had a blast! Have fun at the other schools. by Kate, Reuben and Melissa.
